In a highly important step to protect residents and displaced persons from the serious environmental and health consequences resulting from sewage overflow, CMWU, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross and Gaza Municipality, restored the operation of the Al-Samer sewage pumping station system in Gaza City.
This achievement comes after ongoing efforts that included repairing the damage sustained by the station's transmission line, maintaining the electric generator, and cleaning the wet well, paving the way for restoring the vital system to efficient operation.
The Al-Samer station is one of the essential facilities in Gaza City, serving more than 150,000 citizens. This intervention gains added importance given the harsh conditions facing the Strip, as it contributes to reducing environmental contamination and protects residents, particularly displaced persons, from the risks of disease and epidemic outbreaks.
