As part of early preparations for the winter season, a delegation from CMWU, accompanied by a UNICEF delegation, conducted a field visit to several areas and sites hosting large numbers of displaced people and displacement camps in Gaza City. These areas are among the most vulnerable to flooding and rainwater accumulation.
The visit aimed to monitor interventions being implemented by UNICEF and its partners, assess field needs, and identify the preventive measures required to reduce flood risks and strengthen the protection of displaced people, particularly in low-lying areas, displacement camps, and densely populated and vulnerable communities exposed to flooding during the winter season.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination and cooperation between CMWU and UNICEF and identify priority interventions under winter preparedness plans. These efforts aim to enhance readiness and emergency response, reduce risks, and mitigate the potential impact of heavy rainfall and flooding on displaced people and affected areas.
