Gaza – CMWU
CMWU, in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), installed solar power systems for Al-Zohour reservoir water desalination plant in Rafah city and Souq Mazen desalination plant in Bani Suheila, Khan Younis governorate, south of the Gaza Strip, aiming to ensure the continued operation of those plants for the greatest possible number of hours and secure residents' needs of drinking water in the areas served by those plants, particularly amid the continuing spread of the coronavirus and the repercussions of the recent Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, with the number of beneficiaries of these plants reaching about 7,000 people.
This comes as part of the emergency support project for public desalination plants in the Gaza Strip to reduce health risks related to the coronavirus, funded by the German government through the German development organization GIZ.
