CMWU, funded by Oxfam, connected the desalinated water line from the South plant to Deir al-Balah's network after 15 of 18 wells went out of service.
CMWU, on an emergency basis, connected the desalinated water transmission line from the seawater desalination plant south of the Gaza Strip to the distribution network of Deir al-Balah city, in order to provide water to the residents of Deir al-Balah, particularly after several main water wells went out of service following the evacuation of the areas where those wells are located as a result of Israeli military operations in several areas of Deir al-Balah.
This comes funded by Oxfam in partnership with the Friends of the Environment Association and in field coordination with the Water Authority and in cooperation with Deir al-Balah Municipality.
It is worth noting that 15 of 18 wells have gone out of service as a result of the recent evacuation factors in the Deir al-Balah area, leading to a decrease in production capacity from the wells of about 75%.
This connection is implemented as part of partially compensating for the water shortage, while continuing to work on finding alternative sources to compensate the city's residents and displaced persons for this severe shortage in water sources.
