Supplying and Installing a Variable Speed Drive for Al-Bassa Seawater Desalination Plant in Deir al-Balah

CMWU, funded by the Red Cross, installed a variable speed drive (350 kW) for Al-Bassa desalination plant in Deir al-Balah.

Funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross, CMWU carried out an emergency supply and installation of a 350 kW variable speed drive for "Al-Bassa" seawater desalination plant in Deir al-Balah city, central Gaza Strip, particularly after the old device malfunctioned, in order to operate the plant with the required efficiency and capacity.

It is worth noting that this plant serves the residents of Deir al-Balah city, numbering about 85,000 people, as high-quality desalinated water is pumped to water reservoirs in Deir al-Balah city to be mixed with water from some wells, which improves the quality of water provided to residents and eases the burden on the groundwater aquifer.
