CMWU supplied its main warehouses with spare parts, for use in maintaining water and sanitation facilities in all areas of the Gaza Strip, to ensure the continued supply of water and sanitation services to residents, particularly amid the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the Gaza Strip and the essential need for those services.

This comes as part of the emergency repair and maintenance project linked to combating the coronavirus, implemented by CMWU in cooperation with the German development organization GIZ, which comes in the context of the project to support residents' stability in the Gaza Strip funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

It is worth noting that, as part of this project's works, CMWU, during the past few days, supplied the three seawater desalination plants with the chemicals needed for the desalination process, in addition to supplying workers at the Strip's municipalities with disinfection materials and personal protective equipment against the coronavirus, aiming to enable them to work in a safe environment, in addition to maintaining numerous electric power generators for water and sanitation facilities. This project also includes carrying out maintenance and rehabilitation for a number of water wells and sewage pumping stations in various areas of the Gaza Strip, as well as supplying chlorine solution for 6 months for use in disinfecting the water pumped into the distribution networks. The project also includes implementing awareness programs for water subscribers on the measures that must be followed to prevent the coronavirus.

The Coastal Municipalities Water Utility has supplied spare parts to be used in the maintenance of water and sanitation facilities in various areas of the Gaza Strip.

This comes within the framework of the emergency repair and maintenance project related to fighting against the Coronavirus, which is implemented by the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility upon an agreement signed with the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
