Activating emergency warehouses and maintaining damaged sanitation lines in Beit Lahia and Khan Younis in cooperation with the Red Cross.
CMWU Announces the Activation of the Emergency Warehouses in Various Areas of the Gaza Strip
CMWU, in cooperation with Beit Lahia Municipality, carried out emergency maintenance on the sewage transmission line from Al-Mashrou' pumping station, which sustained severe damage as a result of Israeli bombardment of Beit Lahia city. Earlier, CMWU, in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality, also worked to maintain the sanitation network, a large part of which was destroyed as a result of the Israeli aggression, which led to sewage overflow in the Al-Mars Street area, by supplying the Utility's headquarters in Khan Younis with the materials needed to repair the damage.
It is worth noting that CMWU had announced, since the start of the recent events, the opening of the emergency warehouses funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross, in addition to its main warehouses in Khan Younis governorate, to provide the spare parts and materials needed to carry out the maintenance works for facilities damaged in some areas as a result of the continuing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, particularly in Gaza, Khan Younis, Jabalia, and Beit Lahia, in order to ensure the continued supply of water and sanitation services to residents.
On the other hand, coordination and work are underway between CMWU, the Water Authority, the municipalities of the Gaza Strip, and some international civil organizations working in the water sector (the WASH cluster), in order to follow up on and count the damage resulting from the current aggression on the Gaza Strip and its impact on the overall services provided to the Strip's residents, in order to urgently repair the damage and work to secure the emergency needs of CMWU and the municipalities, in order to continue providing water and sanitation services.
