CMWU, funded by Oxfam, cleaned the Al-Samer sewage pumping station in Gaza as part of a project to rehabilitate 13 pumping stations across the Strip's governorates.
A glimpse of the cleaning works at the Al-Samer wastewater pumping station in Gaza City, in addition to cleaning the manholes and the 1,500-meter transmission line leading to it, as part of a project that includes cleaning and equipping 13 sewage pumping stations in the governorates of Gaza, Deir al-Balah, Nuseirat, and Khan Younis, aiming to raise the stations' efficiency and strengthen their operational readiness, particularly given the current conditions.
These stations, distributed across the various areas of the Strip, serve large numbers of residents, receiving sewage arriving through sanitation networks from neighborhoods and residential communities, ahead of pumping it to designated disposal sites, contributing to preventing sewage overflow and reducing health and environmental hazards.
This project is funded by Oxfam, and is implemented under the supervision of CMWU in cooperation with the municipalities within whose jurisdiction the target pumping stations are located, as part of efforts aimed at ensuring the sustainability of sanitation services at the minimum level, raising the efficiency of pumping stations and strengthening their operational readiness, contributing to the continuity of service delivery and reducing health and environmental risks given the current conditions.
