Implementation of the First Phase of the Al-Yarmouk Water Reservoir Maintenance Project in Gaza City
CMWU, funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and in cooperation with Gaza Municipality, began implementing the first phase of the Al-Yarmouk water reservoir maintenance project located in Gaza City, as part of efforts to strengthen water infrastructure and improve the efficiency of water services in the city.
The first phase of the project includes construction and engineering works, including removing the damaged parts and completely cleaning and rehabilitating the site, and carrying out restoration and insulation works on the existing water reservoir, to ensure its readiness and operational safety.
This project is an important step toward improving water quality and ensuring the continuity of service, as the subsequent phases will involve carrying out maintenance works on the reservoir's electromechanical system and its associated wells, ensuring its efficient operation and the regular, safe supply of water to citizens.
This project comes amid an urgent need to develop water facilities in Gaza City, particularly given the environmental and humanitarian challenges facing the area, and the project is expected to bring about a qualitative shift in the performance of the water distribution network and improve the level of essential services for residents.
