CMWU, with support from the Red Cross, carried out field interventions in Deir al-Balah, including leveling water accumulation points and maintaining networks in the Birka area and Al-Nakheel Street.
CMWU carried out several field interventions in Deir al-Balah city, central Gaza Strip, in cooperation with Deir al-Balah Municipality and with support from the International Committee of the Red Cross, as part of ongoing efforts to improve water and sanitation services and reduce the health risks that could threaten residents and displaced persons in the area.
The works included leveling a point of rainwater and sewage accumulation in the Birka area on Desalination Plant Street, which had posed a risk to displaced persons and residents in the surrounding area. The technical crews also maintained part of the water network in the Birka area to ensure the continued arrival of water to citizens.
In a related context, the crews worked on removing rubble from Al-Nakheel Street next to Ibad Al-Rahman Mosque, in preparation for carrying out maintenance work on the water and sanitation networks in the area, in addition to preparing to carry out similar interventions on Hammada Street in the Al-Muaskar area.
This intervention is part of the ongoing efforts made by CMWU, in cooperation with partner municipalities and supporting institutions, to maintain the minimum level of water and sanitation services for residents and displaced persons amid the difficult conditions facing the Gaza Strip.
