CMWU crews maintained desalination plants at Al-Shifa Hospital, Al-Aqloq shelter center, and the Singaporean Orphans School in Deir al-Balah to ensure continued drinking water.
CMWU's technical crews began carrying out emergency maintenance work on desalination plants at several locations in Gaza and Deir al-Balah, to ensure the continued provision of drinking water to the beneficiaries of these plants.
The interventions included the following:
- Al-Shifa Hospital desalination plant, Gaza City: the plant has a production capacity of about 80 cubic meters per day, and is one of the vital sources the hospital relies on to provide drinking water.
- Al-Aqloq School shelter center desalination plant, Deir al-Balah, Al-Balad area: the crews carried out routine maintenance, after the Utility had previously installed a mobile desalination plant inside the school to meet displaced persons' needs for drinking water.
- Singaporean Orphans School desalination plant, Deir al-Balah: installation, operation, and maintenance works were carried out on the plant, with a production capacity of about 5 cubic meters per day, to provide drinking water for the orphan students at the school.
These interventions are part of CMWU's ongoing efforts to ensure the continuity of water services at vital facilities and shelter centers, particularly given the current humanitarian conditions.
