Emergency Maintenance of the Transmission Line for the Hisbat Al-Samak Sewage Pumping Station in Khan Younis City
CMWU crews, in cooperation with UNICEF and Khan Younis Municipality, carried out emergency maintenance work on the transmission line for the Hisbat Al-Samak sewage pumping station in Khan Younis city, in order to prevent sewage overflow, reduce environmental and health risks, and ensure the continuity of the station's operation and the efficiency of the sanitation system in the area.
The Hisbat Al-Samak station is one of the vital stations in Khan Younis city, collecting and pumping sewage and transferring it to the sanitation basins west of the governorate, and serves more than 100,000 people, making its continued operation critical to protecting public health and the environment.
CMWU and the municipalities face major operational challenges, foremost among them the acute shortage of oils, spare parts, and operational materials needed for maintenance work, which hinders the sustainability of operating water and sanitation facilities and limits the ability to respond quickly to emergency faults, given the exceptional conditions facing the Gaza Strip.
