CMWU crews carried out emergency maintenance on the Abu Salim, Al-Shaqaqi, and Al-Farouq desalination plants in central Gaza to ensure continued supply to residents and displaced persons.
CMWU crews carried out emergency maintenance work on a number of desalination plants in the Central Governorate, in cooperation with the municipalities within whose jurisdiction these plants are located, as part of its ongoing efforts to maintain the continuity of operating water facilities and ensure the provision of safe drinking water to residents and displaced persons.
The works included carrying out emergency maintenance on the mobile desalination plant installed inside the Abu Salim reservoir in Deir al-Balah city, which the Utility had previously installed inside the reservoir to strengthen drinking water supplies and serve residents and displaced persons in the surrounding areas. The plant has a production capacity of 10 cubic meters per day.
The Utility's crews also carried out emergency maintenance on the Al-Shaqaqi and Al-Farouq desalination plants in Nuseirat camp, where the Al-Shaqaqi plant has a production capacity of 120 cubic meters per day, while the Al-Farouq plant has a production capacity of 30 cubic meters per day, aiming to ensure the continuity of the plants' operation and maintain water production.
These plants serve residents and displaced persons in the neighboring areas, and contribute to meeting their minimum drinking water needs, easing their suffering amid the difficult humanitarian conditions facing the Gaza Strip.
These works come as part of CMWU's efforts to respond quickly to emergency faults and maintain the readiness of water facilities and the continuity of drinking water service delivery, despite the major operational challenges facing the water sector, foremost among them the acute shortage of spare parts and operational materials needed for maintenance work, ensuring the continuity of service at the minimum possible level.
