CMWU, funded by CARE International, restored the New Abasan central desalination plant, the town's only source, to operation.
As part of efforts to restore out-of-service desalination plants in the Gaza Strip, and amid the worsening humanitarian challenges resulting from the war, CMWU, funded by CARE and in partnership with the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees, carried out maintenance and rehabilitation works on the central desalination plant in New Abasan town, the town's only plant, which had been repeatedly destroyed during the Israeli aggression on the Strip.
This project comes as part of an emergency plan aimed at providing clean water to the town's residents, who suffer from an acute shortage of water resources, given the difficult conditions facing the area. The plant's operation is expected to help ease the suffering of thousands of citizens, as it is the main source of drinking water in the town.
These efforts also aim to improve water access for displaced families and affected citizens, who have faced an acute water availability crisis since the outbreak of the war, reflecting the project's importance in improving residents' living conditions and strengthening their resilience in facing challenges.
