CMWU Carries Out Maintenance and Rehabilitation on a Number of Sewage Pumping Stations Spread Across All Governorates of the Gaza Strip

Gaza – CMWU

CMWU, funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross, carried out maintenance and rehabilitation works on a number of sewage pumping stations in various governorates of the Gaza Strip, aiming to raise the efficiency of those stations and ensure the continuity of their operation as required, and prepare them to receive the winter season and prevent flooding and sewage overflow in roads and public places, which leads to the formation of health hazards that harm the environment and negatively affect residents' health.

The maintenance and rehabilitation works included Abu Sorour pumping station in Bani Suheila, Al-Jineina in Rafah, Al-Manshiya and Al-Seifa, and Al-Ren station in Beit Lahia, and Abu Rashid and Hawaber stations in Jabalia, in addition to maintaining the air valves of the transmission line affiliated with Hawaber station, Block 8 station in Al-Bureij, and Al-Bassa in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip.

CMWU is also currently cleaning debris and sediment at UNDP pumping station and Block O and Jamizat Al-Sabeel stations in Rafah city, in addition to Al-Tanfeethia and Al-Mujadala stations in Khan Younis, and Al-Sawarha station in Al-Zawayda, and Amer station in Beit Lahia.

It is worth noting that CMWU had previously, as part of the heavy water and sanitation machinery maintenance project funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross, carried out maintenance on numerous heavy machinery affiliated with the Strip's municipalities and equipped water sweepers and sewage suction vehicles.

CMWU also equipped mobile pumps, aiming to distribute them to the various municipalities of the Strip during the winter season, in addition to supporting all the technical crews of the Strip's municipalities in carrying out the maintenance needed for various sanitation and rainwater networks, by providing spare parts from CMWU's warehouses.
