CMWU, with support from UNICEF, increased the production capacity of the South Gaza seawater desalination plant, the largest in Gaza, to 18,000 cubic meters per day, serving 800,000 people.
CMWU's technical and engineering teams, in cooperation with UNICEF, which worked to secure the purchase and entry of materials through the crossings after a long wait, installed, operated, and tested one of the main speed devices for the seawater desalination units at the South Gaza seawater desalination plant, the largest desalination plant in the Gaza Strip in terms of production capacity. This contributed to raising the plant's operational and production capacity to 18,000 cubic meters per day, covering more than 800,000 residents and displaced persons in both the southern and central areas with drinking water and domestic use services.
In this regard, CMWU affirms the need to allow the entry of the materials, equipment, and spare parts necessary to ensure the operation of life-saving water and sanitation facilities.
