CMWU Begins Implementing a Project to Repair Five Water Wells in Beit Lahia City
CMWU, in cooperation with Beit Lahia Municipality and with support from Oxfam in partnership with the Friends of the Environment Association, began implementing a project to repair five water wells in Beit Lahia city, as part of efforts aimed at improving the water situation and meeting the needs of residents and displaced persons.
The project targets the rehabilitation and maintenance of five main wells with varying production capacities, including: Al-Omani well, Marib well, Al-Saliheen well, Al-Khansa well, and Al-Taqwa well, after these wells were destroyed during the Israeli war, reducing their ability to provide water to citizens. The quantity of water produced is expected to reach 330 cubic meters per hour, benefiting about 50,000 residents and displaced persons.
This project is being implemented as part of efforts to ease the suffering of residents returning to their areas, by restoring the operation of damaged water sources and ensuring their continued supply of drinking water and water for domestic use.
CMWU valued the support of Oxfam, and its partners at the Friends of the Environment Association, affirming the continuation of cooperation with all parties to implement further projects that support the water sector and improve the services provided to citizens.
