A delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross followed up on the rehabilitation of the Shablaq well in Al-Zahra and the F203 well in Al-Mughraqa, to restore water sources destroyed during the war.
A delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross visited the sites of a number of water wells in Al-Zahra city and the Al-Mughraqa area, to review the progress of the rehabilitation project for the Shablaq well in Al-Zahra city and the (F203) well in the Al-Mughraqa area, funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross, ahead of their rehabilitation and restoration to service, in cooperation with the municipalities within whose jurisdiction the wells are located.
The project included rehabilitation and electromechanical maintenance works on the Shablaq well and its restoration to service, in addition to removing debris and rubble from around the damaged wells, and conducting a comprehensive technical assessment of their electromechanical components, including pumps, control panels, and electrical connections, to determine the scale of the damage and identify the requirements for resuming operation according to technical priorities. The Al-Mughraqa well was also equipped and test pumping was carried out, while intensive work continues to complete the rehabilitation of the remaining target wells under the project.
This intervention aims to restore the operation of a number of water sources that were completely destroyed, contributing to delivering water to the shelter camps in those areas, particularly Al-Mughraqa and Al-Zahra, which sustained significant destruction during the war, directly affecting infrastructure and the state of water services.
CMWU affirms the continuation of its efforts, in partnership with supporting parties, to provide water services at the minimum level in the affected areas, and to work on gradually restoring service in a way that meets residents' basic needs and strengthens their resilience amid current conditions.
