CMWU Completes Maintenance and Rehabilitation Project for the Al-Aqsa Reservoir Desalination Plant in Deir al-Balah
CMWU completed the implementation of a maintenance and rehabilitation project for the desalination plant at the Al-Aqsa reservoir in Deir al-Balah city, funded by Solidarites International (France), and in cooperation with Deir al-Balah Municipality, as part of its ongoing efforts to improve water services and strengthen residents' access to drinking water.
The works included comprehensive maintenance of the desalination plant's components, rehabilitating its units, and raising its operational efficiency, enabling it to operate at a production capacity of about 30 cubic meters of desalinated water per day, contributing to strengthening the quantities of drinking water available and improving the level of service provided.
The plant serves residents and displaced persons in the Al-Aqsa reservoir area and around Al-Aqsa Hospital, further underscoring the project's importance in supporting vital facilities and meeting the growing need for water, particularly given the current conditions.
The Utility affirmed that this project is being implemented as part of its efforts to mitigate the effects of the Israeli war on the water sector and infrastructure, and to continue providing essential services at the minimum possible level, contributing to protecting public health and strengthening citizens' resilience.
