CMWU Receives Civil and Environmental Engineering Students from the Islamic University on a Scientific Visit to Some Water Facilities

Within the framework of scientific cooperation between CMWU and the Islamic University of Gaza, CMWU received a delegation of environmental engineering students from the Islamic University on a scientific visit to some water facilities, with the educational trip aiming to introduce students to the water situation in the Gaza Strip and the method of drilling water wells and the soil and water testing procedures carried out in local laboratories, through their visit to some of the wells that have been drilled and learning about the types of pumps used in water wells.
The Islamic University students were supervised by Dr. Younis Al-Mughayer, professor of environmental engineering at the Islamic University, who accompanied them on their tour to visit water facilities, and they were received by Eng. Saadi Ali from the Projects Implementation and Supervision Department at CMWU, who first gave an overview of the water problems in the Gaza Strip and introduced the Utility's role in improving water and sanitation services in the Gaza Strip.
The tour began with a visit to the Al-Bashir well project in Deir al-Balah, currently being implemented by CMWU and UNICEF with funding from American assistance, with the project aiming to supply the residents of Deir al-Balah city with about 60 cubic meters of water per hour, and the students were given a thorough explanation of the mechanism of drilling and constructing wells, where they were shown practically the mechanism of drilling and constructing water wells, and the visiting delegation moved to Al-Naeem well in Khan Younis, which was funded through Muslim Hands, with a production capacity of 60 cubic meters per hour.
The visiting delegation continued their educational trip by visiting the Kuwaiti well in Khan Younis, which was funded through the Kuwait Fund for Development, and the explanation process included active discussion and exchange of questions and inquiries between the students and the accompanying engineers, and the students were given a detailed explanation of the operation and management of water wells and organizing the pumping and distribution process.
The visiting delegation concluded their educational trip at CMWU's warehouses, where the spare parts and equipment necessary for maintaining infrastructure and pumps are stored, and the students were provided with more information about the wells and their pumps and their specific parts and how to install and operate them.
The visit ended with a word of thanks from Dr. Younis Al-Mughayer of the Islamic University to Eng. Ramadan Naeem, Director of the Projects Implementation and Supervision Department, who coordinated the visit, and Eng. Saadi Ali, who accompanied the students during the visit, with special thanks to Eng. Monther Shoblaq, CMWU's Director-General, for the Utility's great role in advancing water services and for the Utility being a partner of the educational institution.
