CMWU received a delegation from Medecins Sans Frontieres at the Al-Sikka well in Rafah city, as part of preparations for installing a new desalination plant with a production capacity of 9 cubic meters per hour, which will serve residents of the Shabora, Al-Sikka, Al-Siyamat, and surrounding areas.
The delegation was received by Eng. Alaa Al-Hamas, Director of the Water Department, and Eng. Farid Shaaban, Projects Director at the water utility's regional office in Rafah, and the meeting discussed the project's details and implementation mechanisms.
The project aims to supply residents of the target areas with drinking water, particularly amid the shutdown of most water sources as a result of the Israeli occupation's systematic targeting of all water and sanitation facilities in Rafah city. These efforts are part of the joint cooperation between CMWU and partner international organizations, aimed at strengthening water infrastructure and serving the local community.
