CMWU restored operation of the Al-Fukhari desalination plant, the sole source for the town's residents (5,000 people), after evacuation orders disrupted supply tankers.
CMWU Maintains the Al-Fukhari Desalination Plant to Ensure Continued Water for the Area's Residents
CMWU crews, in cooperation with Al-Fukhari Municipality, completed maintenance works on the only desalination plant located within Al-Fukhari town's jurisdiction, which is the main source for supplying the town's residents and its surrounding areas with desalinated water.
The plant produces about 50 cubic meters of water per day, meeting the needs of more than 5,000 residents and displaced persons who rely entirely on this vital source, particularly amid the emergency conditions and current security challenges.
In previous periods, the municipality had relied on supplying residents with desalinated water via mobile tankers, but repeated evacuation orders and the difficulty of movement in the surrounding area posed a significant risk to tanker drivers and threatened the continuity of service.
Out of its responsibility toward citizens, the water utility, in coordination with Al-Fukhari Municipality, reactivated the desalination plant, carrying out precise technical maintenance that included reprogramming and adjusting all operating settings, alongside operating and testing the plant to ensure its full compliance with quality standards and permitted quantities.
CMWU affirmed that this step is part of its ongoing efforts to ensure safe water reaches citizens, particularly in areas facing exceptional challenges.
