CMWU Installs a Mobile Desalination Plant at Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza
In a step aimed at supporting the health sector amid the health and environmental challenges facing the Gaza Strip, CMWU installed and operated a mobile desalination plant inside Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, to provide water to the complex's dialysis department.
The Utility's engineering and technical teams completed the installation and operation process, in addition to calibrating and testing the mobile desalination unit, which is distinguished by advanced technologies and a portable, bag-based design, with a production capacity of about 16 cubic meters of water per day.
It is worth noting that the plant was supplied with support from UNICEF, and is the first of its kind in Palestine in terms of technological advancement and complete reliance on solar power. It is also distinguished by its ability to desalinate all types of saline water, including seawater, without the need for chemicals.
This achievement is part of ongoing efforts to improve water services and strengthen the resilience of vital facilities in the Gaza Strip, particularly given the worsening humanitarian and environmental challenges.
