CMWU Begins Drilling Three Wells in Various Areas of Rafah City

Funded by "benefactors from the State of Kuwait" and in partnership with the Palestinian Kuwaiti Association for Social Welfare and the Al-Rahma Association for Development and Reconstruction, and in cooperation with Rafah Municipality, CMWU began drilling three wells in various areas of Rafah city, south of the Gaza Strip, with drilling of those wells having begun in the Saudi Neighborhood 3, the western Rafah area, and Al-Shabora area, as these wells will significantly improve the water services provided to residents in terms of quantity and quality in the aforementioned areas and other areas that these wells will feed with water, with the capacity of each of these new wells expected to be 45 m³ per hour, which will ease the water crisis in Rafah city.
This project comes as part of the projects through which CMWU seeks to improve and develop the level of water services provided to residents of the Gaza Strip, as CMWU had previously drilled numerous water wells in all cities of the Gaza Strip, in addition to carrying out maintenance works on various water wells spread across the Gaza Strip, aiming to rehabilitate them and raise their efficiency, and supplying numerous water wells and desalination plants with solar power systems, in order to increase their operating hours, particularly amid the continuing electricity outage crisis in the Gaza Strip.
In this context, CMWU thanked Rafah Municipality's Mayor Dr. Anwar Al-Shaer for the Municipality's support and cooperation and providing everything needed for the success of the procedures to begin implementing this important project, particularly allocating the land plots needed to drill the wells.
