CMWU Completes Construction of Al-Qalaa Central Water Well in Central Khan Younis City
CMWU completed the drilling and construction of the Al-Qalaa central water well in the center of Khan Younis city, southern Gaza Strip, funded by UNICEF and in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality, as part of its efforts to strengthen water sources and improve the supply system's capacity to meet the growing needs of residents.
The project comes amid an increasing number of returnees to the center of Khan Younis city, coinciding with the summer season and rising temperatures and the accompanying increase in water demand, as the well aims to increase the quantities of water available to residents in the city center, Jamal Abdel Nasser Street, and surrounding areas.
The project is one of the interventions aimed at supporting the sustainability of water services and improving supply levels, contributing to enhancing citizens' access to water at the minimum possible level, given the current humanitarian conditions facing the Gaza Strip.
The project included the implementation and provision of all the electromechanical works required to operate the well, including the installation of the pump, the electrical control panel, and connection lines, along with various operational equipment, in preparation for putting it into service and benefiting from its production to support the water supply system in the beneficiary areas.
