CMWU Succeeds in Repairing a Wastewater Drainage Line for a Sewage Pumping Station in Jabalia
CMWU has succeeded in repairing the sewage drainage line that carries wastewater from the collection and pumping station in Jabalia to the treatment plant in Beit Lahia, with the diameter of the line that burst being 630 mm, and the bursting of the drainage line caused large quantities of sewage water to leak into neighboring homes, facilities, and land, with the line pumping about 700 cubic meters of wastewater per hour.
After CMWU received an urgent appeal from Jabalia and Beit Lahia municipalities due to the unavailability of the capabilities necessary to repair the line, CMWU moved urgently, and its engineers were able to bring the necessary spare parts and equipment from CMWU's warehouses and began maintenance works.
It is worth noting that the Utility coordinated with the northern municipalities to organize and stop pumping operations from their pumping stations to the treatment plant, because the bursting of the conveyance line caused the water pumped to the treatment plant from the rest of the pumping stations to continue returning to the Jabalia station through the burst line, which worsened the water leakage problem. Accordingly, after stopping the pumping operations, to stop the leakage of sewage water and its flow into residents' homes and other facilities in the surrounding area, the Utility began maintenance works. After about twenty-four hours of continuous work, the Utility succeeded in maintaining the line and restoring it to operation and ending the problem.
