Amid Extremely Complex Conditions: CMWU Carries Out Emergency Maintenance of the Transmission Line Feeding the Ma'an Reservoir in Khan Younis
CMWU, funded by Oxfam and in cooperation with Khan Younis Municipality, carried out emergency maintenance works on the water transmission line feeding the Ma'an water reservoir southeast of Khan Younis city, after it sustained severe damage as a result of continued Israeli bombardment of the area.
This line feeds the Ma'an reservoir with Mekorot water, and the damage it sustained caused a cutoff of water supplies to more than 100,000 citizens and displaced persons in several main neighborhoods of Khan Younis city, including: Ma'an, Jourat Al-Lut, Al-Manara, Qaa Al-Qarin, and Sheikh Nasser, in addition to wide parts of the city center.
The bombardment also destroyed parts of the distribution network and control valves, worsening the humanitarian crisis facing the area amid escalating bombardment.
This vital intervention comes amid extremely complex humanitarian and security conditions, with work being carried out under significant pressure to secure water access for residents, at a time when the city is experiencing harsh conditions as a result of the repeated targeting of infrastructure.
CMWU affirmed that it will continue its efforts, in cooperation with local and international partners, to ensure the minimum level of essential services for citizens despite all the challenges.
