CMWU Begins Implementation of an Emergency Water Supply Project in Al-Qarara Area to Serve Displaced Persons
CMWU, in cooperation with Al-Qarara Municipality, and with support and funding from the Wafa Al-Muhsineen Association, began implementing an emergency water supply project to serve displaced persons and residents in the Al-Qarara area north of Khan Younis Governorate, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen citizens' access to drinking water and water for domestic use.
The project includes the supply and installation of water lines with a total length of 3,735 meters, comprising 775 meters of 110mm-diameter UPVC lines, 1,700 meters of 75mm-diameter polyethylene lines, 960 meters of 32mm-diameter lines, in addition to 300 meters of 25mm-diameter lines.
The project also includes connecting the new network to the Al-Qarara well, which was recently rehabilitated in cooperation with EcoPeace, and installing the valves, fittings, and parts required to ensure the network's operational efficiency and the sustainability of its work, contributing to improving water services and meeting the urgent needs of displaced persons and residents in the Al-Qarara area and surrounding areas.
CMWU affirmed that the implementation of this project comes as part of its ongoing efforts, in cooperation with its partners, to strengthen the continuity of water services and improve their reach to citizens, particularly in areas experiencing increasing population density, contributing to easing the suffering of displaced persons and residents and strengthening water security in the area.
