CMWU, in cooperation with Al-Qarara Municipality and with support and funding from Wafa Al-Mohsineen Association, has begun implementing an emergency water supply project to serve displaced people and residents in Al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis Governorate. The project is part of CMWU’s ongoing efforts to enhance access to drinking and domestic water.
The project includes the supply and installation of water pipelines with a total length of 3,735 meters, comprising 775 meters of UPVC pipes with a diameter of 110 mm, 1,700 meters of polyethylene pipes with a diameter of 75 mm, 960 meters with a diameter of 32 mm, and an additional 300 meters with a diameter of 25 mm.
The project also includes connecting the new network to Al-Qarara Well, which was recently rehabilitated in cooperation with EcoPeace, as well as installing valves, fittings, and the necessary connections to ensure efficient operation and sustainability of the network. This will contribute to improving water services and meeting the emergency needs of displaced people and residents in Al-Qarara and surrounding areas.
CMWU emphasized that the implementation of this project is part of its ongoing efforts, in cooperation with its partners, to strengthen the continuity of water services and improve access for residents, particularly in areas experiencing increasing population density. The project will contribute to alleviating the hardships faced by displaced people and residents and strengthening water security in the area.
