Beginning the rainwater drainage project in Al-Saftawi area in Jabalia, funded by OCHA, to protect about 20,000 people from flooding.
CMWU Begins Work on the Rainwater Drainage Project in Al-Saftawi Area in Jabalia

Funded by the "Office of the UN Special Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory OCHA", CMWU, in partnership with Save the Children International, Action Against Hunger, and Jabalia Municipality, began implementing the rainwater drainage project in Al-Saftawi area in Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip.
Through this project, rainwater will be separated from sewage water and a pumping station will be constructed at Al-Saftawi basin in order to pump rainwater into its drainage network through a 2-kilometer transmission line.
This project aims, first and foremost, to protect residents in that area from the risk of rainwater flooding and protect residents and their homes from drowning, which residents of this area have suffered from during the past years during rainy storm periods, with this project serving about 20,000 residents of Jabalia city.
This project comes as part of CMWU's program to reduce the risks of storms during the winter season and make the most of rainwater, through which CMWU seeks to develop and improve the conditions of areas exposed to the risk of drowning as a result of rainwater.
It is worth noting that CMWU has, during this year and last year, implemented several rainwater drainage projects in Tal Al-Sultan area in Rafah city, Al-Amal neighborhood west of Khan Younis, and also around Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Street in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip.
