As part of the preparations CMWU carries out in the winter seasons, particularly during weather depression days, CMWU's Director-General Eng. Monther Shoblaq affirmed that the Utility's crews are in permanent session to handle the emergency situations that might arise during this season, as has been customary during previous seasons, with the Utility maintaining permanent coordination and cooperation with its regional headquarters and the municipalities, equipping them with mobile pumps and the areas' needs of maintenance equipment.

In turn, Eng. Nihad Al-Khatib, official in charge of operating sewage stations at CMWU, stated that the Utility's technical crews responded urgently and immediately to the municipalities' appeals to confront the effects of the recent weather depression that hit the Gaza Strip, causing flooding in some areas, which would endanger residents' lives and property.

Eng. Al-Khatib said that the Utility moved a mobile pump from its warehouses to Jabalia Municipality after the sewage station pump in Tal Al-Za'tar area, which witnesses high population density, malfunctioned at the peak of the depression, which contributed to preventing flooding in the place and preserving the safety of residents and their property.

Eng. Al-Khatib added that CMWU also supplied Al-Maghraqa Municipality with a mobile pump after the Utility received a report from Al-Maghraqa Municipality of flooding at the sewage station in Al-Maghraqa, with the excess water at the station disposed of and the water overflow stopped, preserving residents' safety in that area.
