As part of ongoing efforts to support the water and wastewater sectors in Gaza City, CMWU received a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on a field visit to the Al-Manshiya Desalination Plant, with a production capacity of 50 m³/hour, and the Al-Baqqara Wastewater Pumping Station (No. 5), which is scheduled for maintenance and rehabilitation with support from the ICRC.
The visiting delegation included Nicolas von Arx, ICRC Regional Director for the Near and Middle East, and Julien Lerisson, Head of the ICRC Mission in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, along with several ICRC representatives.
The delegation was received by Eng. Moutaz Abu Alqomboz, Director of the Projects Design Department at CMWU, and Eng. Saadi Ali, Manager of the Desalination Plant Construction Project. The delegation was briefed on the progress of the projects and ongoing interventions, and discussions were held on prospects for joint cooperation to enhance the sustainability of water and wastewater services and improve the level of services provided to residents.
The visit underscores the importance of partnership and cooperation between CMWU and the ICRC in supporting water and wastewater infrastructure and strengthening essential services in Gaza City.
