CMWU, with support from UNICEF, drilled a new well at the Al-Aqsa reservoir in Deir al-Balah (60 cubic meters per hour) to compensate for the Mekorot cutoff.
Drilling and Operating a New Water Well in Deir al-Balah to Strengthen Water Sources
CMWU, in cooperation with the Palestinian Water Authority and Deir al-Balah Municipality, and with support from UNICEF, drilled and operated a new water well at the Al-Aqsa reservoir in Deir al-Balah city, as part of efforts aimed at strengthening water sources in the city, amid the water crisis facing the Central Governorate, resulting from the cutoff of Mekorot water supplies and a number of feeder wells east of Deir al-Balah going out of service, either due to their complete destruction or because they are located in dangerous areas.
The new well's production capacity is estimated at 60 cubic meters per hour, used to pump water into the Al-Aqsa reservoir, which in turn distributes it to wide areas of north and central Deir al-Balah.
