CMWU's Oversight and Supervision Committee conducted a monitoring tour of CMWU's main warehouses south of the Strip, with the committee consisting of Mr. Ashraf Hanouna, Director of the Oversight and Audit Unit, Eng. Robin Al-Madhloum, Director of the Supervision Department, and Eng. Mohammed Sorour, Head of the Electromechanical Maintenance Section.
This tour aims to verify the soundness of the procedures followed in the disbursement and receiving process at the warehouse departments and the extent of their compliance with the applicable rules and procedures, in addition to identifying the most important challenges facing warehouse management and the extent of the inventory's readiness to respond to routine and emergency work requests, particularly amid the difficult conditions the Gaza Strip is currently going through as a result of the spread of the coronavirus in the Gaza Strip and the essential need to continue supplying residents with water and sanitation services.
This tour also included a visit to the seawater desalination plant south of the Gaza Strip, aiming to review the progress of the development works there and ensure they are proceeding as required, as work is underway to develop that plant to reach a production capacity of 20,000 cubic meters per day, to become capable of serving residents in wide areas of Khan Younis and Rafah cities, numbering about 250,000 people, funded by the European Union through UNICEF, in cooperation with CMWU and the Palestinian Water Authority, with this tour coming in the context of numerous monitoring tours conducted by the Oversight and Supervision Committee of all of CMWU's facilities.
