CMWU, in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), is working on installing solar power systems for Al-Zohour reservoir water desalination plant in Rafah city and Souq Mazen desalination plant in Bani Suheila, Khan Younis governorate, south of the Gaza Strip, aiming to ensure the continued operation of those plants for the greatest possible number of hours and secure residents' needs of drinking water in the areas served by those plants, particularly amid the current conditions the coronavirus pandemic has imposed on all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip.
This comes as part of the emergency support project for public desalination plants in the Gaza Strip to reduce health risks related to the coronavirus, funded by the German government through the German development organization GIZ.
