Extension of a Stormwater Drainage Line on Haneen Street in Al-Mawasi, West of Al-Qarara

Published on

CMWU, in cooperation with Al-Qarara Municipality and with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), carried out works to install a 10-inch stormwater drainage line along Haneen Street in the Al-Mawasi area, west of Al-Qarara. The works were implemented as part of preparations for the rainy season and efforts to reduce the risks associated with stormwater accumulation and the resulting flooding of streets, surrounding areas, and displacement camps.

The works included excavation, preparation of the pipeline route, installation and laying of pipes, construction of the required manholes, and connection to the stormwater drainage network. These interventions will help improve water drainage and reduce the accumulation of stormwater in the area during the winter season.

The works are being implemented under the heavy machinery rental project and form part of the efforts of CMWU and its partners to enhance the readiness of stormwater drainage facilities and networks and to address potential risks during the rainy season.

These works are being carried out under highly challenging operational conditions, compounded by restrictions and difficulties in securing spare parts and maintenance supplies. This poses additional challenges to the implementation of emergency works and to maintaining the continuity of water and wastewater services.
