CMWU teams, in field coordination with the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA), carried out emergency maintenance works on the UAE desalinated water transmission pipeline located south of Muawiya Mosque in the Al-Mawasi Rafah area. The pipeline conveys desalinated water from the UAE desalination plant located on the Egyptian side, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the continuity of water services for residents and displaced people.
The works included addressing emergency faults affecting the transmission pipeline, which had caused reduced water flow and lower transmission efficiency, affecting the delivery of water supplies to beneficiary areas and further increasing the hardship faced by residents and displaced people who rely on the pipeline for their water needs.
Technical teams successfully completed the maintenance and repaired the faults, restoring the pipeline’s operational efficiency and normal water flow. This contributed to improving water access in the beneficiary areas and enhancing service continuity.
These works are part of CMWU’s ongoing efforts to maintain the operation and sustainability of water facilities and transmission pipelines and respond rapidly to emergency faults, helping ensure the minimum possible level of water supply for residents and displaced people despite the operational challenges and difficult humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.
