Emergency Maintenance of the Al-Hassaina Wastewater Pumping Station in Nuseirat

Published on

CMWU, in cooperation with Nuseirat Municipality and with support from the ICRC, carried out emergency maintenance works at the Al-Hassaina Wastewater Pumping Station in Nuseirat, central Gaza Strip.

Al-Hassaina Wastewater Pumping Station is one of the main facilities within Nuseirat’s wastewater system. It contributes to the drainage of wastewater from several populated areas and serves approximately 80,000 people. Maintaining the station and ensuring its continued operation are therefore essential to reducing the risk of wastewater overflows and protecting public health and the environment.

The maintenance works included the station’s manifold, the electric generator used to operate the station, as well as its pumps. The works aimed to improve the efficiency of these components, ensure their operational readiness, and maintain the continuity of the station’s operation.

These works were carried out under highly complex operational and humanitarian conditions, amid significant difficulties in obtaining maintenance materials, spare parts, and the equipment required. These challenges place considerable pressure on technical teams as they work to carry out emergency maintenance and maintain the continuity of water and wastewater services.
