A training course for desalination plant operators in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council, covering optimal operation methods and coronavirus preventive measures.
CMWU, in partnership with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), implemented a training course for workers in the water sector from CMWU and the various municipalities of the Gaza Strip, targeting desalination plant operators, with the course addressing the optimal methods for operating and maintaining desalination plants, in addition to important guidance related to the operation process for plant operators to preserve the plants and improve the quality of desalinated water provided to residents, and the course also included training workers on health practices and preventive measures related to the coronavirus, in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and enable plant operators to work amid the continuing pandemic.
This course was given by Eng. Mahmoud Shatat "via Zoom", GIZ's consultant, Eng. Ahmed Al-Rubai, Operations and Maintenance Director at the Central desalination plant, and Ms. Suhair Al-Bayoumi, Head of the Public Awareness Section at CMWU.
This course comes as part of the emergency support project for public desalination plants in the Gaza Strip to reduce health risks related to the coronavirus (COVID-19), funded by the German government through the German development organization GIZ.
