CMWU continues cleaning rainwater drainage inlets and lines in Khan Younis, Deir Al-Balah, Nuseirat, and Al-Zawaida as part of the Heavy Machinery Rental and Provision of Labor and Technicians Project, funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in cooperation with municipalities in central and southern Gaza.
These activities are part of CMWU’s early preparations for the winter season, aimed at enhancing the readiness of the rainwater drainage system, improving the efficiency of drainage inlets and lines, and reducing the risks of rainwater accumulation and flooding.
The works include removing accumulated soil and debris and cleaning drainage inlets and lines, helping improve rainwater drainage efficiency and reduce potential risks and damage during the winter season.
It is worth noting that rainwater drainage networks and facilities have sustained extensive damage during the war in Gaza, amid significant restrictions on the entry of maintenance supplies and materials. This further increases the challenges of managing rainwater and raises the risks of water accumulation and flooding.
The cleaning works are expected to continue over the coming days, covering additional areas across Gaza as part of CMWU’s plan to strengthen the readiness of the rainwater drainage system, in coordination and cooperation with municipalities.
