CMWU, with support from ICRC, carried out maintenance works on a number of water wells in northern and southern areas of the Gaza Strip, with the aim of enhancing their operational efficiency and maintaining the continuity of water services amid the current conditions and growing water needs, particularly with rising temperatures during the summer season.
The maintenance works covered Nabaa Al-Khair Well, Al-Karaj Well, and Al-Basha Well in Gaza City, in addition to Al-Fayrouz Well and K21 Well in Deir Al-Balah, and Al-Ihsan Well in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis. These wells serve large numbers of residents and displaced people in the surrounding areas, with varying production capacities depending on the characteristics and operational capabilities of each well.
These interventions are part of emergency and life-saving response programs aimed at maintaining the minimum possible level of water services for residents and displaced people, through making use of available materials and equipment and reusing whatever can be salvaged, amid continued restrictions on the entry of essential equipment, materials, and spare parts into the Gaza Strip.
