CMWU teams carried out emergency maintenance works at the water desalination plant at Al-Aklouk Shelter Center in central Deir Al-Balah, as part of the regular monitoring and maintenance efforts conducted by CMWU for desalination plants operating across different areas of the Gaza Strip, with the aim of ensuring the continued provision of safe drinking water to displaced people and residents.

The maintenance works included addressing technical faults that had affected the plant and restoring it to efficient operation, ensuring the continued supply of safe and potable drinking water to displaced people inside the shelter center.

It is worth noting that CMWU had previously installed this mobile desalination plant inside the shelter center as part of its efforts to enhance displaced people’s access to safe drinking water amid the difficult humanitarian conditions and the ongoing need to provide essential services.

The plant has a production capacity of 16 cubic meters of desalinated and potable water per day and serves approximately 4,000 displaced people residing at Al-Aklouk Shelter Center in Deir Al-Balah.
