CMWU, in cooperation with Nuseirat Municipality and in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Oxfam, has begun implementing maintenance and rehabilitation works on the wastewater network in Nuseirat, specifically along Wadi Al-Qashash near the electricity generation company.
The works include cleaning and maintaining the main wastewater line connected to the Joint Agency Pump, with a total length of approximately 1,000 linear meters and diameters of 800 mm and 630 mm. The intervention aims to improve the line’s efficiency and enhance its capacity to convey wastewater.
CMWU teams are also using heavy-duty wastewater equipment designated for suction and unclogging wastewater networks and pipelines to carry out cleaning and maintenance works and address blockages and other issues affecting the line’s operation.
The project directly serves more than 60,000 people. The line is one of the main wastewater transmission lines serving Nuseirat Camp, making its cleaning and maintenance essential to ensuring service continuity, reducing the risks of pollution and flooding, and improving sanitary and environmental conditions for residents.
These works are part of CMWU’s ongoing efforts, in cooperation with municipalities and partners, to maintain the continuity and efficiency of wastewater services amid challenging operational conditions and shortages of the materials and supplies required for maintenance works.
