CMWU, in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has begun implementing a project to construct a water desalination plant in the densely populated Al-Mawasi area, around the synagogue compound and adjacent to Afaq Educational School. The plant will have a production capacity of up to 50 cubic meters per hour, with a daily output of approximately 500 cubic meters of desalinated water.
The plant will contribute to meeting the drinking and domestic water needs of the surrounding displacement camps, in addition to filling desalinated water tankers to help cover the needs of other displacement camps in Rafah.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with Rafah Municipality and Khan Younis Municipality, with support and funding from ICRC. The implementation works are expected to be completed within 60 working days, in accordance with the established timeline.
