CMWU, in partnership with the Red Cross, began building a desalination plant in the Al-Mawasi area of Rafah with a capacity of 500 cubic meters per day, serving the surrounding displacement camps.
CMWU, in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross, began implementing a project to build a desalination plant in the densely populated, displacement-affected Al-Mawasi area, around the Kanees square, next to Afaq School, with a production capacity of up to 50 cubic meters per hour, and a daily output of about 500 cubic meters of desalinated water.
The plant will help meet the surrounding camps' needs for drinking water and water for domestic use, in addition to filling water tankers with desalinated water to help cover the needs of the rest of the Rafah camps.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with Rafah and Khan Younis Municipalities, with support and funding from the International Committee of the Red Cross, and is expected to be completed within 60 working days according to the set schedule.
