CMWU, in partnership with the Red Cross, runs an ongoing program to maintain diesel generators, which have become the main source of operating water facilities since the electricity cutoff.
CMWU, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, and since the start of the war on Gaza, and with the complete cutoff of electricity supplies from the public grid to all aspects of life, including water and sanitation facilities, has been working to secure and implement an ongoing, integrated program to maintain and repair faults and provide the spare parts and consumables needed for the diesel-powered electric generators, which have become the main source of electricity and the main lifeline for operating the various water and sanitation facilities as a life necessity, in order to secure a reasonable level of drinking water supplies and sewage pumping services during emergency periods for residents and displaced persons across the various areas of the Gaza Strip.
In this regard, the water utility began carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance works and repairs for all electric generators operating in the various water and sanitation facilities across all governorates of the Gaza Strip, including changing oils and filters and repairing various faults, which will have a positive and effective impact in securing the water and public services system, in addition to strengthening preparations for the arrival of the rainy season, which will help ease the severity of the accumulated crises resulting from the tragic reality that the war on Gaza has caused and continues to cause.
