CMWU received a sewage vacuum truck from the Red Cross to serve the municipalities east of Khan Younis.
CMWU today received a Volvo truck with a 6-cubic-meter capacity equipped for pumping out sewage, supplied through the International Committee of the Red Cross, which will be dedicated to working in the municipalities east of Khan Younis Governorate, to pump out cesspits and address the sewage accumulations in the eastern towns resulting from the devastating war on the Gaza Strip.
It is worth noting that this truck was purchased before the war, at the end of 2022, and as a result of the destruction of more than 70% of the sanitation system and the appearance of widespread sewage flooding in neighborhoods, population centers, shelter centers, and displaced persons' areas, the water utility requested partners and donors to supply more trucks with combined functions in terms of pumping out sewage and unblocking lines as well. The actual procurement process for a number of these trucks has begun, and they will be deployed to serve the various population centers and displacement and shelter centers in all municipalities in all areas of the Gaza Strip.
