CMWU received another German delegation at the East Al-Bureij sewage treatment plant to discuss future expansion.
CMWU received a German delegation that included Mr. Martin Mauth, Director of Cooperation and Development at the German Representative Office, Mr. David Konzi, Director of the German Development Bank's office in Ramallah, and Eng. Farid Ashour, KfW Projects Coordinator in the Gaza Strip, during their visit to the East Al-Bureij sewage treatment plant, central Gaza Strip. They were received by CMWU's Executive Director Eng. Monther Shoblaq, Eng. Maher Al-Najjar, KfW Projects Department Director, Head of the Projects Coordination Department Eng. Yasmine Bashir, and Treatment Plant Director Eng. Mohammed Al-Qeshawi.
In turn, Eng. Monther Shoblaq welcomed the visiting German delegation, praising the German cooperation and support for various water and sanitation projects, which resulted in the completion of numerous projects, the most important of which was the construction of the Central Sewage Treatment Plant east of Al-Bureij, which contributed to improving the environmental situation by treating sewage water safely and re-pumping it into the Gaza Valley watercourse, in preparation for restoring it as a nature reserve and halting the pollution of seawater resulting from pumping untreated sewage water into it, emphasizing the importance of German support for the water and sanitation sector to improve the service provided to the residents of the Gaza Strip.
The visit included a detailed explanation of CMWU's role and the projects it is implementing in the Gaza Strip to improve water and sanitation services, particularly projects funded by the German government, and a discussion of the proposal for the future expansion of the Central Treatment Plant. The visit also included a field tour inside the plant to closely observe its workflow.
