CMWU, funded by the Kuwait Fund, is constructing a 3.3km sewage transmission line from Al-Wafaa neighborhood to Al-Orouba station in Khan Younis at a cost of $1 million.
Since this Friday morning, CMWU, in partnership with Khan Younis Municipality, continues to supervise and work on implementing the project to construct a sewage transmission line from PS3 sewage pumping station in Al-Wafaa neighborhood to Al-Orouba pumping station "No. 8", 3.3 kilometers long and 600mm in diameter, in order to transport sewage water to the Central Treatment Plant east of Khan Younis governorate, funded by the Kuwait Fund for Development through the Islamic Development Bank, and implemented by local contractor Zaidiya Contracting Company.
It is worth noting that the old line's capacity is insufficient to transport sewage water, causing large quantities of sewage to return to the old treatment plant in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis.
The project is expected to be completed within 6 months, and it will also contribute to improving the environmental situation in Khan Younis governorate. The project's value is $1 million and it serves about 250,000 people.
