CMWU, in partnership with the Red Cross, began repairing the three Al-Safa wells northeast of Gaza (500 cubic meters per hour), serving up to 300,000 people.
CMWU, in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and in cooperation with Gaza Municipality, began carrying out repair works on the Al-Safa wells located northeast of Gaza City, which include three main wells: Safa 1, Safa 2, and Safa 3.
The total production capacity of these wells is about 500 cubic meters per hour, and the repair works aim to restore the operation of these vital sources and improve water supply to residents amid growing needs.
The Al-Safa wells sustained significant destruction during the war as a result of bombardment, causing them to stop operating and reducing their ability to supply water to wide areas of the city, which required carrying out this urgent intervention to restore them to service.
The Al-Safa well system is a main source supplying wide areas and neighborhoods of Gaza City with water, including Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, Al-Daraj neighborhood, Al-Tuffah neighborhood, and parts of Al-Shuja'iyya neighborhood. The number of beneficiaries from these wells, once restored to service, is estimated at between 250,000 and 300,000 residents.
